Update 07.2026: Highway Expansion and Railway Station [Minecraft Create World]

Update 07.26 – Expanding the Highway Network and Planning the Central Railway Station

Construction never really stops in my Minecraft Create Survival World, and this month has mainly been about building the foundation for several of the largest infrastructure projects I have ever attempted. While there may not be many finished buildings yet, an incredible amount of planning has gone into the transportation network that will eventually connect every district of the map.

The biggest focus has been on expanding the city's highway system while simultaneously preparing the future Central Railway Station. These two projects are closely connected, and because both occupy the same area, they had to be planned together from the very beginning.

Rather than simply placing roads and tracks wherever they fit, I wanted this section of the world to resemble a realistic transportation hub where highways, railways, subways and industrial traffic all meet in one central location.

Major Expansion of the City Highway

One of the first projects tackled during this update was extending the city's main highway. Until now, several roads simply ended without leading anywhere, making parts of the transportation network feel incomplete.

To solve this, construction began on a completely new highway corridor that will eventually connect multiple districts of the world. Large sections of terrain have already been cleared, bridges are beginning to take shape, and the basic alignment of the roadway is now visible.

Although the highway still looks unfinished in many places, the most important part has already been completed: the planning. Once the road layout is finalized, decorating, landscaping, barriers, lighting, road signs and detailed interchanges become much easier to build.

The new route is designed to handle future traffic from both the industrial district and the residential parts of the city, making it one of the most important infrastructure projects currently under construction.

Create Trains Hidden as Road Vehicles

One feature I have been looking forward to for quite some time is expanding my system of Create trains that are disguised as normal road vehicles.

Instead of using visible railway tracks everywhere, many of the roads in my world secretly contain Create train tracks hidden underneath the asphalt. The vehicles driving on these roads are actually trains following invisible railway lines, creating the illusion of realistic traffic.

As part of the highway expansion, I have already laid large sections of these hidden tracks beneath the future motorway. Even though most of them cannot be seen from the surface, they form the backbone of the transportation system that will later allow trucks, buses and other custom vehicles to travel automatically throughout the city.

Because these hidden railways must line up perfectly with the road geometry, most of the work at this stage has involved careful measuring and planning rather than decorative building.

Planning a Realistic Highway Interchange

Another exciting milestone has been the beginning of a completely new highway interchange.

Instead of building a simple intersection, I wanted something that looks much closer to real-world motorway engineering. This means creating proper entry ramps, exit ramps, merging lanes and smooth curves that fit naturally into the surrounding landscape.

The interchange is still only in its early stages, but the basic foundations have now been prepared. Large amounts of terraforming will still be necessary before the final road surfaces can be completed, but the overall layout has finally started to emerge.

Once finished, this interchange will become one of the largest road structures anywhere in my survival world and will connect several future districts that are currently still under development.

The Future Central Railway Station Begins to Take Shape

Perhaps the biggest project currently being planned is the new Central Railway Station.

For a long time, I only had a rough idea of where the station would eventually be located. During this update I finally started laying the tracks, allowing me to see how much space the station will actually require.

Instead of designing the station building first, I decided to begin with the railway infrastructure itself. By placing every platform track in advance, I can accurately determine the size of the future station building before construction even begins.

This approach makes it much easier to avoid running out of space later while also ensuring that the station feels realistic in both size and functionality.

Designing Passenger Trains First

An interesting challenge appeared almost immediately after laying the tracks.

I realized that I couldn't accurately determine the length of each platform without first knowing how long my passenger trains would actually be.

Because of this, I have temporarily shifted some of my focus toward designing completely new passenger trains. Their final length will determine the size of the station platforms, waiting areas and even parts of the station building itself.

Rather than guessing these measurements, I want the station to fit the trains perfectly, just like a real railway network.

This means train design and station planning are now progressing side by side, with each influencing the other.

A Connection Between the Subway and Main Station

One feature I definitely wanted to include from the beginning is an integrated subway connection.

The city's underground metro network will receive its own dedicated platforms inside the Central Railway Station, allowing passengers to transfer directly between long-distance trains and local transportation.

This makes the station much more than just a railway stop—it will become the central transportation hub for the entire city.

Eventually, passengers will be able to arrive by regional train, transfer to the subway, or continue their journey using the city's growing road network and automated vehicle system.

The Highway Will Cross Above the Railway

One of my favourite design ideas for this entire project is the way the highway and railway interact.

Rather than separating them into completely different areas, the motorway will actually pass directly above the railway lines leading into the station.

This creates a layered transportation corridor that is commonly seen in large real-world cities, where multiple forms of transportation share the same limited space.

The result should make the entrance to the station feel much more impressive while also making better use of the surrounding terrain.

Building this section will probably become one of the most technically challenging parts of the entire project because both road elevations and railway clearances need to line up perfectly.

A Huge Empty Area... For Now

Looking at the screenshots, much of the area around the future station still appears to be completely empty.

That is intentional.

Rather than filling the landscape with temporary buildings, I prefer leaving enough room for future expansion. Once the road network and railway system are finalized, the surrounding districts can slowly grow around them.

Future developments will likely include office buildings, bus terminals, parking areas, pedestrian bridges, shops, landscaping and many other decorative elements that help transform the station into a realistic city center.

Although it currently looks like an enormous construction site, this empty space represents the next major chapter in the development of the entire survival world.

Looking Ahead

This update may not contain many finished buildings, but it represents one of the most important planning phases the world has seen so far.

The foundations for the future transportation network are finally coming together. The highway continues to expand, hidden Create railway lines are being installed beneath the roads, the first realistic motorway interchange is taking shape, and the long-awaited Central Railway Station is finally becoming more than just an idea.

Over the next updates, I will continue designing the passenger trains, expand the station platforms, construct the station building itself, and slowly transform this massive construction zone into one of the busiest and most detailed areas in the entire world.

There is still an enormous amount of work ahead, but seeing the transportation network slowly come together is incredibly satisfying. Every new track, every new road and every completed interchange brings the world one step closer to feeling like a fully functioning modern city powered by the Create Mod.

As always, I'll continue sharing new screenshots and progress updates as these projects evolve.
